What Were Eating Homemade Beefburger

6th February 2014 | Posted in Recipes

I dare say that most of us are a fan of the humble burger, whether it be beef, lamb or veggie. The ultimate comfort food made in a healthier way, which is perfect to share with family and friends. This recipe serves 4 people and is ready in no time at all, so let's get started......

For the burger:

* 540g/1lb 3oz minced beef chuck steak
* 25g/1oz chopped coriander
* 1 onion, chopped
* 1 tablespoon od dijon mustard
* 1 free-range egg yolk
* 1 tablespoon of olive oil
* salt and freshly ground black pepper

To serve:

* 4 slices mature cheddar
* 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
* 1/2 iceberg lettuce, chopped
* 4 ciabatta rolls (or rolls of your choice)
* 1 red onion, sliced
* 1 beef tomato, sliced

Preparation Method

1. Place all the burger ingredients in a mixing bowl and stir to combine them all together.
2. Using your hands, shape the mixture into four equal sized patties.
3. Make sure the grill is hot, then cook the burgers for 15 minutes, turning once halfway through.
4. Towards the end of the cooking time, place a slice of cheese on top of each burger.
5. Before serving, mix together the mayonnaise and lettuce, cut your rolls in half and toast slightly under the grill.
6. Top the bottom half of the roll with the lettuce and mayonnaise, followed by a slice of tomato.
7. Arrange the burger and cheese on top of the ciabatta, add a slice of red onion and the top with the remaining half of the roll.
8. Complement the burger with either French Fries, Cajun Wedges and some coleslaw. Wonderful!
