Outfit Of The Week Barbour Looks

The best thing about a Barbour coat is that they are so versatile, they can be worn with practically anything. Originally, and before they came into the fashion stakes, Barbours were used by a selection of people for walking, working outside, etc. and being used for the practical purpose of the coat before the fashion boom! Here, I've created two outfits that have a fashionable and practical side...
- The coat I have chosen is a waxed version of a quilted jacket. The jacket is actually 'rustic' in colour which is a nice deep brown. If we break this jacket down into sections, we can see that the jacket is both quilted and waxed, giving you the option of both. Waxed jackets are advantageous in that they are tough wearing, windproof, thornproof and unlikely to wear and tear! The wax coating ensures the strength and longevity of the coat but its recommended that they're re-waxed every year to continue this durability. As the coat is a Barbour International, they are quite fitted and if you are thinking of getting one, I'd go for a size above. Its also got a belt feature to control just how fitted the coat is.
- Maison Scotch has been one of our best selling brands for some time now. Most Maison Scotch items have individual charms or features to them such as the one pictured. I've chosen a dark top that wouldn't clash with the Uggs and black skinny jeans to go with this.
I wanted to use a pair of Chestnut coloured Uggs to keep within the 'rustic' theme of the coat. With the Blaise pair, the buckle and zip details are the same colour as the coat. These are part of the new A/W collection and it seems the Uggs have been updated in small unique ways such as this zip as Uggs are normally slip on.

- This is a more casual laid back look using elements of British heritage with the Barbour and Hunter brands. Hunter's road to commercial success has followed the same path that Barbour has, both have been around decades and both famed for their practicality yet been subjected to a staple in the fashionista's wardrobe. Today, festivals are filled with Hunter clad individuals dressed to impress. Hunter even has a huge celebrity following (including the Royals) despite how commercialised the brand has become. I've chosen a pair in 'aubergine' to add a pop of colour to a dark and grey outfit. That's the great thing about having the coat as black; you can choose any colour Hunters to go with them without creating a clash!
- The Nudie jeans I have chosen are a black/grey colour which suits the top and jacket well. I've added the Superdry top as something a little casual to complete the outfit.
