Bread & Butter Berlin
One of the biggest fashion events for fashion buyers, Bread and Butter in Berlin attracts buyers, journalists and fashionistas from the world over.
Based at Tempelhof Airport in the heart of Berlin, Bread and Butter is one of the best places to see exactly what will be coming for next year.
We headed over on it's final day to take a sneak peak at what you'll be wearing next Summer.
Printed
shirts have started to creep into mainstream fashion this season, and they were out in force in Berlin, being shown by a host of brands including Penfield,
Farah, Anerkjendt and
G-Star. Whether it's short or long sleeve, you really shouldn't be without one next season. They work brilliantly with
chinos and
shorts-perfect for a smart or casual look.
Chinos are still on trend, being shown by pretty much every brand going-you can take this two ways. The trend will begin to slow down, so either wear them smart in their original preppy style (shirt, shoes, blazer) or take them to the casual extreme- wear them baggy and short around the ankle then link with
trainers or
sneakers.
Denim is making a massive resurgence-we know, it never truly went away, but the coming season's will see a big rise in people wearing it over chinos.
Raw
denim seemed to be the most popular option being shown, with the daddy of denim
G-Star creating a whole street to showcase their jean manufacturing techniques!
Jeans are however, being worn differently. Lad's are wearing them a lot shorter in the leg- hovering above the ankle with suede or leather shoes. Looks like the 'mankle' is sticking around for a bit longer. Good or bad thing we here you ask? Well, that's for you to decide...
Despite the street wear hype that is currently going round, with
snap backs and sneakers pounding every high street, it was good to see that there is still an emphasis on a more formal look coming through to casual wear. Tapered, plainer washes in jeans are key, as well as classy staple footwear.
Brogues,
boat shoes and
Derby shoes were all popular both with the crowds and the buyers.
Printed
T-Shirts are slowly dying out. Don't worry- we're not saying abandon all hope and chuck away your wardrobe-but do start to plan ahead. Slogan
tee's, basic block colour's and pocket
t-shirts with a flecked material will be massive-linking one with sneakers, skinny jeans and a retro
snap back will nail a key look for you. As
Converse stated: 'When shoes go home, sneakers go out.'
Nudie ran a small denim repair workshop, whilst
Barbour continued to displayed the King of Cool's range-Barbour Steve McQueen still looks amazing; as they introduce extra race styled badging and even more distressed styles.
Tommy Hilfiger constructed a grassy hill, covered by models. Without a doubt, this was the stand that created the biggest buzz around the show!
