The 1980s saw the origins of the football casuals subculture; distinguished looks were created from a blend of sportswear, tracksuits and trainers and they soon became entwined with a specific demographic to create an iconic image. Sergio Tacchini initially found its popularity amongst the wide variety of music, films and fashion that had been adopted by this group and quickly became a mainstay.

A new decade saw the emergence of newly popular genres of music and audiences of fans alongside them; the dawn of hip-hop in particular ensured brands like Sergio Tacchini would go on to reach even greater heights than before. Their appearance in the everyday wardrobes of artists such as LL Cool J and The Notorious B.I.G. led to the almost ubiquitous appeal of certain items, styles and brands that continues today. Rightfully celebrated as a pivotal moment in their history, Sergio Tacchini have re-released a number of favoured styles from this period to a new audience, including the aptly named "Voletta" t-shirt.
