Winter Essentials

Be prepared, it's come around fast! One minute its nice weather and we're wearing shorts and sunnies and the next we're wearing fur and quilted coats. Due to this unpredictable weather, we need some essentials to protect us from the wind and rain. With Bonfire night just around the corner, the usual scene will be woolly winter warmers such as hats, scarves, gloves and big warm jackets. Here,we have a selection of these essentials from Superdry, Ugg and Barbour...
The Gilet
This year, the gilets we've had delivered have been selling like hot cakes! I've never really thought about them before, but after this influx, my eyes are now open to a new world of gilets. Superdry has been the most popular, but we also have some Barbour as well. Wear with a long sleeved top to stay warm and look casual.
The KnitOne of the best things about this season is the arrival of chunky knits. Its quite exciting changing seasons, going from your skimpy summer wardrobe to wrapping up where possible in your chunky knitwear. This Superdry one is a very chunky, thick jumper that would ensure total warmth. I can't help feeling a little Christmas inspiration surrounding this jumper - it has a total festive feel.
The BarbourAn essential Winter staple piece is a Barbour jacket. For several years now, streets have been donned with Barbour clad individuals and this trend doesn't seem to be fading. When you see someone wearing a Barbour, you know they've paid for a good quality coat; the saying is true that you get what you pay for and with a Barbour, that is exactly what you get. I've chosen this jacket because it's very warm and snug, especially with the belt around the middle to tighten for a better fit. The polarquilts are all warm like this and have a soft fleeced lining which makes them really popular.
The Pet AccessoryIts not just you that gets cold in the Winter. Don't let your dog down, keep your canine warm and what better way than from the coat experts themselves; Barbour. Trust me, your dog will be thankful!
The HoodyEveryone's favourite in the Winter months: the hoody. Great for lounging around, great for comfort, great for warmth. Very practical is the old hoody, I actually get an oversized one whenever I go to a festival to wear around the house and for a keepsakes (sad I know). Superdry are one of the best brands for hoodies, specialising in casual loungewear and outdoor wear, the jumpers are emblazoned with the Superdry branding. This is my favourite from the latest collection, the colours work well together being bold and I like the speckled background detail.
The OnesieEssential for staying in on a cold winter's night, the onesie has crept into most households in the last few years. Different colours, shapes and even animals have been adorned by both men and women from all over the High Street, but one remains somewhat 'elite' and that's the original. OnePiece actually created the onesie after three young individuals were sat together one day discussing ideas for loungewear that could possibly be comfy, loose around the waistline and practical. And wallah, the onesie was born, and despite multiple imitations, the OnePiece is still regarded as the best.
The UggUggs are a definite essential if you're female! In previous blogs, I normally use a black or chestnut pair, so this time, lets go for an alternative colour: the chocolate! Great colour for the winter since its dark, therefore better for camouflaging any marks (accessorise the chocolate pair with lots of gold - very festive). If your traipsing out into the snow, just remember the Ugg care kit!
The AccessoriesLiving in Britain gives us the disadvantage of British weather. But at least we get to sample all four seasons, which means our dress sense can change every few months and means its less boring! This winter brings with it though, rain, wind and a little snow, therefore there are some practical (yet still stylish) essentials we need! The umbrella for example, is always needed; we get rain spontaneously and what better brand to turn to than the experts in waterproof footwear: Hunter.
A hat, scarf and gloves are sometimes vital options in this weather and I've chosen a slight twist on the standard scarf with this Superdry snood with the softest fleece on the interior (I think Rihanna was one of the first to actually start this snood trend). Check out the gloves - very posh and smart from none other than Ted Baker.
