The Soundtrack To Your Weekend

7th August 2013 | Posted in Mens & Music

HELLO WEEKEND we've missed you. Where have you been the past five days? Whilst you were away we found these songs and made into a wondrous playlist to help tempt you back. It seems to have worked, so... let's get started...

Bastille vs Ella-No Angels CLICK PLAY. CLICK PLAY NOW. He ar that? That's right. It's a cover of TLC'S Scrubs. Not much more to say really, other than OH MY GOOD LORD IT'S SO GOOD. Have you clicked play yet?! AHHHHHHHH Fryars-Cool Like Me A trashy cymbal fused hook, some catchy indie led lyrics, and one of those fresh off the shelf London spirit vibes make this track by Fryars something to behold. A cracking start to the night, bang it on, turn it up. Let's face it, we all wanna be cool. Calvin Harris feat Ayah Mara- Thinking about you (Michael Brun Remix) Shove this down your lug holes and leave it in there. This track is pretty damn good all by it's self, but it's got a pretty chilled out vibe behind it. Now as nice as that is, it might not be enough to stop you watching hideously bad Saturday night television like casualty and push you out to various public watering holes. We don't like that thought. But, we do like this. So enjoy it. Dan Le Sac vs Scroopius Pip- Stunner WOW. That got out of hand pretty quick. If we could some this up in one word, it would have to be insane, but beyond that... well it's just indescribable. Kind of reminds us of the scene in the second Hangover film when Alan turns round to the group and announces that: 'WE LOVE TO PARTY', with a scary bearded grin, as that crazy drug dealing monkey looks on. We like to think of this track as a summary of that situation, to try and quantify what it really is-pure, maddening, mental genius. A$AP Rocky-Fashion Killa Yes, that's right. The guy with the dollar sign in his name is back, with another predictable big name dropping tune. But hey, it works, and it could be cracking little start to your weekend. In A$AP's latest track, it's pretty clear that he's having a few issues with a woman and her pistol- she keeps 'poppin tags' and 'swagging to the max', you see. Well, Mr Rocky, that sounds like one crazy ass lady to us, and if it were us, we'd probably run a mile. No matter how bizarre though, it's still a corker. Hot Natured- Reverse Sky Diving (Deetron Dub Remix) Soooo. That Scrupious Pip and Dan Le Sac track was heavy righttt? Well, calm yourself down with this steady mix of electric house, mixed by Deetron Dub. No words, no messing about, just a big pounding bass and some handy synth work. Adds up to a track that builds and builds until it makes you want to break through the front door and get into town ASAP (But not A$AP, because then you'd have to yanno. POP SOME TAGSSS). Childish Gambino-Heart Beat If you caught last weeks playlist, you might have heard Gambino's latest tune, Centipede. Well if you liked that, you'll love this. Taken off his album 'Camp' which was released in 2011, Heart Beat gives a heavy drop and shows off Gambino's rapping and singing talent. It's a bit of a hidden gem this, and we bloody love it. Turn it up loud, listen to a gentle intro, then wait for it to turn into an absolute midnight pumper. Adele-Rolling in the deep (Jamie XX remix) We know what you're thinking- Adele?! On a Saturday night?! Well, our answer is yes, Adele. On a Saturday night, but with a slight twist. Step forth Jamie XX, one part of London band The XX, and a general all round production genius, to turn Adele on her head. That's a funny image, isn't it? This mix gives Adele's frankly slightly morbid track a serious lift, kicking it so hard up the arse it leaps ten feet in the air and yelps like a retro reggae beat, before falling on an East London dance floor. Cracking analogy, that. Pats on backs all round. Tom Odell-Another Love (Zwette remix) We recently made it very public our feelings on Mr Odell and his new album. Frankly, we don't care for how he's thrown away some of his relatively obvious talent on sickeningly, boringly samey love ballads. If you'd like to know more about the error of Mr Odell's way's, please click here. So anyway-this song. Yes, we don't like Tom Odell. BUT. We don't mind this song. In fact, we even grow to like it when it's been remixed in such a simple way. Perfect if you need a come down song to get your head out of the crazy mix that is Scroopius Pip and Dan Le Sac (see above). Have a tip top weekend y'all!!!
