The Summer heat can stifle your style- so the latest outfit of the week is all about keeping you looking suave in the sun with a touch of effortless style. Tommy Hilfiger Mercer Summer Twill Chinos

Too hot for denim, and shorts are too informal. Nightmare. Turn to the old faithful chino to give you a look that will keep you looking suitably smart without being anyway near as heavy as jeans. Handy if you're going for a positively preppy look, chinos are a damn good staple to cracking a a huge host of styles. We've hand picked these slim fitting Tommy Hilfiger chinos, because of their on trend silhouette, and washed out colour. Made by one of the champions of American prep, you won't go wrong with these on your legs.

Ted Baker Collar Bar Shirt

We love this new season shirt by Ted Baker. If you're anything like us, you won't like wearing short sleeve shirts for something that's a bit more formal. This can throw up a right quandary for when the suns out, but sadly, there's not a great deal you can do. The only bonus is that traditional shirting is typically lightweight, and, if you roll the sleeves, you'll be able to cool down a bit more. Just make sure you've got a decent timepiece on.

This shirt's from Ted Baker's new Autumn/Winter 2013 range, so you're getting a style a touch ahead of its time. The collar bar finishing gives this micro check shirt an eye drawing feature, as well as a retro aesthetic. We love collar bars, whether you're planning on wearing a tie with them or not, they're a great way to give a shirt a new lease of life.

Lyle & Scott Cardigan Now we're not suggesting you chuck this Lyle & Scott cardigan in the middle of the day whilst it's scorching hot, but we are suggesting that you consider how cool it might get in the evenings. If you're trying to keep up the smart look without being burdened by shaking limbs, layer this cardigan over the Ted Baker shirt when the temperature drops. Wear it open for a true preppy look so the check on the shirt is still visible, or button it up for a sharper modernist appeal. J Shoes Ivy shoes Summer shoes can be a real dillema. You want the comfort of an espadrille, but the smartness of a brogue. It's a tricky situation. We reckon these J Shoe Ivy slip ons could be the answer. Finished in a dark tan leather, they're easy to match up with anything in your wardrobe. The slip on style makes them comfortable and lightweight in the heat, whilst the leather lace fastening gives them a bit of interest. Roll up the chinos past the ankle for a proper Summer ready look.
