An inventor more than a designer, Osti developed new ways of treating and designing materials, but always strived to combine comfort with technology and functionality.

Osti’s research led him to create the Massimo Osti archive, where he stored textiles he developed from his findings. It currently holds around 30,000 garments, and 55,000 fabric samples. Famed for the creation of textiles that change colour according to the temperature, and being the first designer to use stone washes to create unique colour effects, Osti died in 2005, but will always be remember through the innovations he left behind.

The legacy he left behind him is still going strong, with his original brands Stone Island and C.P. Company still using the innovative ways in which he treated textiles to create something truly unique.

A household name from his performances in classic films, McQueen’s passion for all things fast and dangerous is evident in many of his on screen performances; from being chased on a motorcycle by prison guards across the Austrian countryside in The Great Escape, to escaping hit men in a Ford Mustang through the streets of San Francisco in Bullitt.

Perhaps one of his lesser known achievements was competing for the United States off road motorcycle racing team-where he first came into contact with the iconic A7 Barbour International Jacket. One key trend for the coming winter is the hiking boot. Chunky and well soled, this new addition to your wardrobe will soon become not just a favourite choice of footwear, but also a valuable ally in your fight against the winter months.
